Ayung River, which is the longest river in Bali, becomes one of popular attractions in Ubud. The strong stream and magical setting with rocks and green cliff make Ayung River to be the most popular rafting site in Bali. Furthermore, many companies put rafting in Ayung River on their company outing schedule. In fact rafting is not only a water sport but also a fun challenging activity which can bind you to other mates.

Needless to say, the popularity of rafting in Ayung River is a big advantage for many travel agents that you can find easily an adventure tour of rafting (http://baliwww.com/tour/adventure_tour/59.html) offered on the tour list. But before booking it, better you know about the safety, the staff, and the smart tips.

A professional rafting company will put the safety of travelers on the prime point. Hence, when you arrive at the reception desk you will be directed to wear rafting equipments such as helmet, life-jacket, and others. After wearing all equipments, the professional guide will show you about the safety, how to use the paddle, sitting position, jumping position, and etc. Not focusing on what they say is a no-no. Your boat could be overturned due to your wrong sitting position or jumping position. Also, you are provided with a water-resistant bag for the valuables.

Short, shirt, and sport shoes are the perfect outfit to enjoy the delightful adventurous rafting. Applying sunscreen before starting the rafting is the best prevention from burning sun light. Camera or Video recorder is no need since there are unseen photographers that will capture your best expressions when jumping. And the last thing don’t forget to bring the extra clothes since you will be so wet in the end of this tour.

Thousands of Peliatan and Ubud residences along with tourists, foreign dignitaries, Bali and Peliatan Royal families as well as the King of Solo, Central Java attended the royal cremation ceremony of Ida Dewa Agung Peliatan, the late King of Peliatan IX, on Tuesday. This royal cremation ceremony was the last tribute paid to the late King, who died from diabetes last August by Peliatan’s and Ubud’s royal family.

The highlights of this royal ceremonies were Naga Banda, Bade and Lembu. Naga Banda was a 6-meter-tall dragon-shaped bridge presented by the royal family of Ubud as a sign of respect to the late king. Before the Naga Banda was used to carry the body of the king to the bade (cremation tower), it was “killed” by Hindu High Priest Ida Pedanda Lingsir Padang Tegal, who presided over the religious ritual, by firing a sacred arrow as a symbol of renouncement of earthly desire by the late king. The bade (cremation tower) has 11 pyramid-shaped roofs signifying the king’s lineage from the noblemen of East Java’s Majapahit Kingdom. This 20-ton cremation tower was carried by thousands of Peliatan, Ubud and Tegalalang residences. The 25-meter-tall bade was used to transport the king’s body from his palace in Peliatan to the royal cemetery. Last but not least was Lembu, a giant bull-shaped sarcophagus, that was used as container of the king’s body when it was cremated. This white bull has 22-carat-gold horn.

This grand cremation ceremony was a sign of love and respect of the people to the late king, hundreds of artists working voluntarily to create the cremation tower, Naga Banda and Lembu that befitted their king. Thousands of Peliatan, Ubud, Tegallalang and surrounding villages’ residences happily bear the weight of 20-ton cremation tower under the scorching sun. And the cremoation ceremony is also the duty of all descendants to organize a proper cremation ceremony for the elders who brought them into the world, by returning all mortal remains back to their original sources water, fire, earth, light and air.
