Those courses are also great for children. But you better have flexible schedule if you want to join the courses. Actually the similar courses are offered in other tourism areas but in the field of art, Ubud is the place to be.

All about cooking classes (http://ubudonline.com/let%E2%80%99s-cook-in-ubud/) have been discussed on the previous post. Unlike cooking and fruit carving course which take only 1,5-4 hour, batik making course takes 1 to 5 days. During 5 days you will learn how to make batik from basic to advanced techniques. Ketut Sujana and Nyoman Suradnyana are two artists who manage batik making class. Ketut Sujana’s workshop is near Fly Café while Nyoman Suradnyana who charges USD 35 per day will teach you at his Nirvana Studio. All tools and equipments include. Children will love this activity so much since this course let them paint on a sheet with various colors while create many spots.

In many regales fruit carving is there to give artistic touch. It needs special knife, patience, and persistence to have beautiful carving. In Pondok Pekak Library and Learning Center the experienced artisan will assist you and lead you step by step in carving the fruit (usually watermelon). In the beginning you will feel hopeless but with the assistance of the expert, it is very possible to have pretty flower carvings. At around USD 15, you will have new ability to be shown and practiced in front of friends next time you go back home.

In the same place, you can also learn carving the wood. Well, it could be harder than carving a fruit due to the wood texture. Not only use hands to carve, your feet are the wood stabilizers when your hands are carving the wood. Because you will learn carving accompanied by the high-skilled artisan on the floor, back pain is something possible at the end of the course. But it is just worth it.
